The Wildcats, ranked No. 3 in the preseason IHSBCA rankings, opened their season at home on May 21 with a 10-0 win over non-conference foe Pella. It was a solid team performance to start the 2018 campaign. Junior Isaiah Henrichs pitched a dominate five innings, allowing only one hit and two walks, while striking out 11 batters. The Wildcats made no errors on defense and junior Darek Tingle threw out the only Dutch base runner trying to steal second. Senior Ben Rowray led the way on offense, going 3-3 including a double, stolen base and an RBI. Senior Nate Mortimer collected three hits on the night, driving in two runs and Henrichs also contributed two hits in the win. The Wildcats will play again on Tuesday night as Chariton comes to town.
