Jen Nordhagen has been selected as the 2019 Iowa Cheerleading Coaches' Association (ICCA) Coach of the Year. Nordhagen has been leading the Carlisle cheer program since 2008 and has fostered one of the most respected, successful, positive team cultures in which Carlisle students are lucky enough to participate.
Carlisle's cheer program is consistently one of the best in the state. The Wildcats swept 3A state cheer this year, winning Time-Out, Stunt Group and Cheer Dance and placing runners-up with a second Stunt Group entry. She is truly the leader of an elite program, which involves up to 40 kids (boys and girls) per year for Carlisle. She has had at least one girl selected for the all-state squad every year since 2011 and her competition teams have placed in the top-10 every year since 2009.
Nordhagen is a CHS graduate so her Wildcat pride is evident and adds to her passion for her program. In addition to coaching cheer skills, she believes in the importance of service and support for all activities. In addition to all their hard work, her squads volunteer annually at the Iowa Heart Foundation Run for Your Life event and also lend a hand at the downtown farmers market Meals for the Market program. She enlists the kids to decorate lockers, hallways, fences and buses throughout the year, enhancing the culture at Carlisle and celebrating activities outside of the sports for which they normally cheer.
Jen is a valuable asset to Carlisle schools. Students leave high school with valuable life lessons and are better for having been involved in her program at Carlisle. Congrats to her on this very deserved award!
