Heading into the new season, the Carlisle Wildcats are hoping to build upon a strong 2016-17 campaign in which they won 15 games and finished as conference and district runners-up. Carlisle brings back a strong nucleus of letter winners from a year ago, including seniors Max Goodhue, Cole Henderson, Ben Rowray and Tommy Donovan. Last season, Donovan was selected to the All-Raccoon River Conference honorable mention squad. Junior letter winner & starter Collin Lister returns as well. Lister was a second team all-Raccoon River Conference selection as a sophomore and led the Cats in scoring at 17.6 points per game. Other players in the mix include senior Kacyn Pickering and juniors Nolan Brunsen and Trenton Beck.
Seth Poldberg returns for his third season as the Cats' head coach. Poldberg will be again be assisted by Justin Flaws, Joey Aguirre, Dan Clark and Payton Burris. In previewing the season Coach Poldberg commented, "Our squad is led by a great group of senior leaders. Not only are they solid basketball players, but they are young men of high character. We have high hopes for a successful season." Poldberg would like to see improvements in his team's defense from a year ago. Offensively, the Cats will look to play an up-tempo style of basketball similar to last year, a season in which the team broke five offensive school records, including most points scored in a season and most points scored per game. The Cats will face stiff competition in the Raccoon River Conference and also have a tough non-conference schedule.
The Wildcat men officially tip off their season on November 27 at Grimes vs. a tough DC-G team.
