The Carlisle Wildcats defeated Pella 64-56 Friday night in district basketball action. Carlisle led by seven at half time, but a big third quarter by the Dutch tied the game at 41 heading into the fourth quarter. Using clutch free throw shooting, the Cats outscored the Dutch 23-15 in the final frame to seal the victory in a jam-packed Barn in Carlisle.

Senior Cole Henderson led the way for the Cats with 23 points and seven rebounds. Junior Collin Lister scored 12 points, while seniors Tommy Donovan chipped in 10 and Max Goodhue nine.

Coach Poldberg commented, "I couldn't be prouder of our team. Our kids battled and played really solid defense. Offensively, we stuck to the game plan and took great shots. Also, hats off to Wildcat Nation for showing up and being loud!"

Carlisle moves on to play in the sub-state final against No. 4 Oskaloosa Monday night at Southeast Polk at 7 pm. A win would give the Wildcats their first state tournament birth since 1988.
