The Carlisle varsity boys' track and field squad traveled to Huxley on April 18 to compete in the Ballard Classic Relays, where they finished as runners-up with 120 points. Gilbert won the Class A team title with 145 points followed by Carlisle (120), DCG (112), ADM (72), Ballard (71), Grinnell (65) and Creston (2). The highlight of the evening was when the 1600-meter distance medley team of Ben Rowray-Nate Mortimer-Dallas Wright-JJ Orput set a school record, running the event in a time of 3:37.16. This mark broke the old record of 3:40.54 set in 2001 by Nate Davidson, Devin James, Kelly Hilpipre and Jared Newman.
Other first-place finishers included Dallas Wright in the 200m dash in a new meet record time of 22.35 (only .02 away from CHS record held by Jordan Gonzalez from 2008). Other winners included the 4x400m relay team of Cutler Palar-Cole Henderson-Riley Derrickson-Orput in a season-best 3:35.40 and the shuttle hurdle team of Josh Black-Nolan Brunsen-Trenton Beck-Drew Black, who won in 1:01.54.
Second-place finishes went to Max Goodhue in the 110m high hurdles (15.62) and the 4x100m relay team of Gabe McCaughey-Mortimer-Ethan Wright-Dallas Wright (45.29). The 800m sprint medley team of Owen Durham-McCaughey- Henderson-Goodhue ran 1:37.74 (season best) for second place. Junior Ben Jones also finished as runner-up in the discus (124-10). Third place finishes went to Kallen Glawe in the shot put with a career best throw of 43'7.5, Glawe in the discus (119-06), Carter Logue in the 3200m run (10:42.79) and Drew Black in the 110m high hurdles (15.83). Fourth-place finishes went to Ethan Wright in the high jump and Ben Rowray in the 800m run. Fifth-place finishes went to Riley Derrickson in the long jump, Ethan Wright in the 100m dash, Nolan Brunsen in the 400m hurdles and the 4x800m relay team of Ethan Reed, Hunter Snyder, Ben Kooker, and Devin Egenberger.
