Busy Week Takes Boys to Norwalk & Ames

The Carlisle boys' track & field squad competed in the Hi Covey Relays at Ames High School on Tuesday, April 9th.  The Cats were the only 3A team in the field and finished 6th with 58 points. Ames won the team title with 165.5 points followed by Valley, City High, Southeast Polk, Ankeny Centennial, Carlisle, Des Moines Hoover, and Newton.

The Wildcats highest place-winner was Nolan Brunsen who finished 2nd in the 110m high hurdles in a season best time of 15.41. Trenton Beck finished 3rd in the long jump at 21'0.75. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Beck -Jacob Imhoff-Karson Dunn-Brunsen finished 3rd in 1:01.74. Also finishing third was the 4x800 meter relay team of Kolby Fritz-Jon Flaws-Tristen Kessler-Kyle Miller in season best time of 8:20.49. Beck finished 5th in the 110m high hurdles in 15.96 as did Kolby Fritz in the 400m dash. Other 5th place finishers were the 4x400m relay team of Quincy Griffin-Imhoff-Fritz-Brunsen and the 1600 meter distance medley team of Griffin-Hung Hoang-Justin Neely-Ethan Schlichte.   Other highlights included Miller's 7th place finish in the 800 meter run in a career best time of 2:07.43. Jacob Imhoff claimed 7th in the long jump at 19'11.75, just a half inch short of his career best. Hayden Amos finished 8th in the discus with a career best throw of 123'8.  Brandon Kesner also finished 8th in the 3200 meter run in 10:41.95 which was over an eight-second career best.

There were also limited JV events at the Hi Covey Relays where the Wildcats claimed several top 5 finishes. Ceejay Whisler finished 2nd in the high jump, Matthias Beattie 3rd in the long jump, Joey Donovan 3rd in the discus, and Ryan Coates 4th in the discus.  The JV shuttle hurdle squad of Hunter Snyder-Archer Ogbourne-Bryce Murray-Ryan Roland finished 3rd while the 4x100 meter squad of Beattie-Neely-Wyckoff-Roland finished 4th.

Carlisle Boys Track & Field Compete at Norwalk

The Carlisle boys' track & field squad took several members to compete in the Tom Fish Coed Relays at Norwalk High School on Monday, April 8th. The shuttle hurdle relay squad of Trenton Beck-Jacob Imhoff-Karson Dunn-Nolan Brunsen ran 61.95 to win the event by over 2 seconds. Other top place-winners for the Wildcats were Joe Gilmore in the shot put (8th), Cole Osterhaus in the 3200 meter run (8th) and the 800 meter run (8th), Tyson Guard in the 400 meter hurdles (8th), and the 4x100 meter relay team of Will Page-Caleb Frost-Nick McCaughey-Caleb Wenthe who also finished 8th.
