The boys cross country team got its season started August 30th at the DC-G Invitational. The team finished second of 12 teams. The only team to beat them was No. 2 ranked DC-G.
Senior JJ Orput was the overall meet champion, running the course in 17:13. JJ was followed by sophomore Carter Logue, who finished 11th, Collin Lister 13th, Jon Flaws 14th, Kobi Sadler 15th, Kolby Fritz 16th and Zachary Willcox 17th. Rounding out the top 11 Wildcat finishers were Josh Felger (22nd), Nate Rowray (28th), Truman Kruse (39th) and Kyle Miller (60th).
This meet awarded a medal to the top 7 place winners in each grade. The team brought home eight medals: Seniors-Orput-1st, Juniors- Sadler-7th, Sophomores- Logue-2nd, Lister-3rd, Flaws-4th, Willcox- 5th, and Freshmen- Fritz- 1st and Miller-7th.
Eleven Wildcats made their high school cross country debut tonight. The team travels to Grinnell September 6th for their next meet to take on No. 3 Grinnell and No. 7 Pella.
