Wildcats Qualify for State XC Meet for First Time in School History

The Carlisle Wildcats boys team qualified for the state cross country meet for the first time in school history by placing third in the qualifying meet hosted by Atlantic Oct. 20.  Senior JJ Orput was the state qualifying meet champion with a dominating 28-second victory.  Sophomore Zachary Willcox joined Orput in the top-five with a very impressive fourth-place finish.  Also turning in great performances for the varsity team were sophomore Collin Lister (21st), freshman Kolby Fritz (22nd), junior Kobi Sadler (23rd), and sophomores Carter Logue (25th) and Nate Rowray (36th).

No. 5-ranked Gilbert won the meet with 50 points. No. 4-ranked DC-G finished second with 54 points ahead of the tenth-ranked Carlisle Wildcats who placed third with 71 points.  Those three teams advance to the State XC Meet in Fort Dodge on October 29th.   The remaining team scores were: Atlantic in 4th with 119, Glenwood in 5th with 128, Denison-Schleswig in 6th with 154, Winterset in 7th with 186, Harlan in 8th with 226, Perry in 9th with 297, Creston in 10th with 300, Boone in 11th with 306, and ADM in 12th with 323 points.
