Wildcats Earn Team Title at North Polk

The Carlisle grapplers entered the 10-team tournament at North Polk High School on Saturday December 16, and finished not only with two individual champions and four runners up, but the Wildcats were able to stave off a late charge by opposing teams to take the overall team title.  This championship is the second Carlisle has picked up at this tournament at the past two showings.

The team title was secured by a strong semifinal round, which put six wrestlers in the finals.  Taking the top spot on the podium in the finals were junior Carter Logue and freshman Gabe Hemsted.  Logue, who was a state qualifier last year, pinned his way through his bracket to tally the maximum amount of points for the team. Hemsted also had a great tournament, pinning his way through the bracket to take the top spot.

Making their way to the finals before falling to the eventual weight champions were Peter Comer, Bryce Murray, Ethan Reed and Tyler Squires.

Fighting back for third-place finishes were Tommy Jones, Troy Schnathorst and Darek Tingle.

Fourth place was Nate Ramirez, while fifth place was taken by Cooper Schettler and Gage Uhlman.  The Wildcats are at the Warren County Duals on December 20.
