The Carlisle wrestling team hosted ADM and Winterset on Dec. 14 and were able to claw out two victories over two tough RRC rivals. These two wins brought the Wildcat's record at home for the season to 4-0 and their RRC duals record to 4-0.
The Wildcats defeated ADM 52-22 in their first dual of the night. Starting off the scoring for the Wildcats was Troy Schnathorst at 132 pounds, getting the pin in 2 minutes and 9 seconds. Ethan Reed (170) Cooper Schettler (HVY) and Peter Comer (126) all had pins on the night to propel the Wildcats to victory. ADM forfeited four weights on the night and Tyler Squires also picked up a major decision at 160 pounds, winning by a score of 13-4.
Before the last dual of the night, Wildcats recognized the middle school and CYA grapplers who have been working hard this season. Over 40 young wrestlers and coaches were there to show the future of Carlisle wrestling is very bright.
In the final dual of the night, the Wildcats defeated the Winterset Huskie, 42-29. The victory marked the first regular-season dual victory over Winterset by a Wildcat wrestling team since 2012! Starting at 138 pounds, the Wildcats dropped the first match of the night, but proceeded to win the next seven matches, six by fall. These seven wins from the Wildcats put the dual almost out of reach. Winterset started to charge back, winning the next four matches until Peter Comer won by decision at 126 pounds to seal the win for the Wildcats.
Attendance on the night was tremendous as the Wildcats enjoyed another full gym of excited and passionate wrestling fans! Special thanks to everyone who came out to all of the home meets this year and supported the Wildcats. We also want to thank everyone who comes out to support the Wildcats on the road.
