The Carlisle Wildcats sent seven wrestlers to title matches and crowned two champions to finish second in the 10-team field at the PCM Mustang Invitational on Jan. 5. PCM won the meet with 221.5 points with Carlisle at 199.5 and Gilbert at 163.
Senior Carter Logue took first at 126 pounds with a 10-5 decision over PCM's Payton Drake in the title match. Senior Tommy Jones won 5-3 sudden victory in the first overtime period to beat Gilbert's Cayden Meskan in the 220-pound title match. Sophomore Nick Pogue was pinned by PCM's Landon Fenton in the 113-pound title match to finish second. Junior Peter Comer took second at 132 pounds after being pinned by Des Moines North-Hoover's Michael Moore. Senior Darek Tingle finished second at 145 after losing a 5-1 decision to PCM's Colby Tool. Sophomore Gabe Hemsted finished second at 195 pounds losing by fall to Pekin's Mason Juhl in the title match. Senior Lucas Henkelman finished second at 285 pounds losing by fall to PCM's Jace Smith in the title match. Senior Lucas Olson pinned Cole Earnest of Pekin in the 152-pound third-place match, while senior Bryce Murray took third at 160-pounds with a pin of Central Decatur's Zander Reed.
