Megan Sievers finished off an outstanding junior campaign with a ninth-place finish in the Class 3A state meet in Fort Dodge. Running between places 7-11 the entire race, Sievers kept her poise down the stretch to hold off a hard charging pack of runners and earn her third consecutive trip to the porch, signifying her place as an all-stater. Sievers was the only class 3A runner in the state to earn the honor for the third consecutive season. Her time of 19:11 was her fastest of the season and the fastest time of her three trips to state. She is the school's first three-time all-state runner in XC for either boys or girls. She will be back next year to attempt to complete the cycle.
Sievers will be running one final unattached meet this season at the Nike Cross Country Regional in Sioux Falls, SD on November 12th. Last year she set her school record of 19:04 at the six-state meet, while winning the Rising Stars division, which featured only freshmen and sophomores. She will look to lower the school record while competing in the upper class division against some of the best runners from around the region.
Congratulations to Megan on her many accomplishments this fall!
