Wildcats Race to Third-Place Finish at DC-G Invite

The girls cross country team opened its 2018 season at the DCG Invitational Aug. 30 with a statement performance from all six Wildcat performers to grab a third-place finish.  Freshman Ainsley Erzen won the race by 46 seconds in a new course and school record time of 18:57 in her debut high school race. She was followed close behind by 2x defending meet champion, senior Megan Sievers in third and junior Abby Noonan in fourth in just her first high school cross country race.  Sophomore Ella Andersen ran a fantastic race to finish 26th in a time of 22:54, nearly four minutes faster than she ran at this meet last fall.  Senior Jocelyn Haack was the fifth Wildcat finisher in a time of 24:00, over a minute better than her performance last year.  Freshman Mady Taylor closed out the performances for the Wildcats with an outstanding freshman time of 24:42. The Wildcats finished third in team points, but had the fastest average time of the top five runners of all teams in the meet.  Their average time was 21:32, compared to last year's average time of 25:50.  The Wildcats third-place finish was enough to knock off class 3A No. 5 Norwalk by a point in the team standings.
