Erzen/Sievers Finish 1-2 To Lead Cats to Third-Place Team Finish

The girls cross country team notched its third consecutive top-three team finish to start the season, this time in the 16-team Oskaloosa Invitational on Sept. 11. The No. 10 ranked Wildcats finished closely behind No. 3 Ballard and No. 12 Grinnell.  Freshman Ainsley Erzen, ranked No. 2 in class 3A, once again dominated the field and the course. Her third consecutive win to start her career was also her third course record.  Senior Megan Sievers, No. 14 in class 3A, ran her best race of the season to make it a 1-2 finish for the Wildcats.  Junior Abby Noonan continued her stellar first year in the sport with an eighth-place finish.  Sophomore Ella Andersen and senior Jocelyn Haack finished two spots apart to help close out the scoring.  Freshman Mady Taylor ran another solid race as the No. 6 finisher and continues to add depth as a strong freshman performer. The Wildcats continued their streak of having the best average and total time of their first five finishers thanks to the outstanding front-running from the top three.
