Wildcat Boys Place 2 nd at B-F Coed

The Carlisle Wildcat boys' track & field squad finished second out of eight teams in the Bondurant-Farrar Coed Meet on Monday, March 29 th . Indianola won the meet with 180 points followed by Carlisle with 152, Norwalk with 140, B-F with 114, Winterset 76, Baxter 30, Saydel 25, and B-F JV with 9 points. The Cats started the meet with a much improved showing in the field events led by a 3rd place finish in the shot by junior Kahle Rattray with a career best of 44'9". Charlie Schettler finished 7th with a career best
throw of 40'8.75'. Tanner Murray and Justin Bagley both threw over 39 feet for career bests as well. Schettler finished 6th (117-10) in discus followed by Rattray in 8th (111-08). Sophomore Juni McPhee jumped 19'1 in the long jump to place 5 th . Senior Ryan Roland cleared 5'6 in the high jump to place 4th and round out the field event scoring.
On the track, the Cats racked up points in all of the sprints and sprint relays. The 4x100 meter relay team of Jonathan Dunn, Karson Dunn, Nic Goodhue, and Archer Ogbourne set a new school record in a time of 43.87 to finish 1st . This broke the previous school record of 44.02 set in 2018 by Kacyn Pickering, Max Goodhue, Cole Henderson and Ben Rowray. Carlisle also picked up a second sprint relay win in the 80 meter sprint medley where J. Dunn, K. Dunn, Goodhue and Quincy Griffin finished in 1:38.93. The 4x200 meter relay squad of sophomore Alec McCormick, Griffin, junior Tyson Guard, and junior Liam Smith finished 2nd in 1:37.21. Goodhue finished 3rd in the 200 meter dash in 23.83 followed by McCormick in 4th at 24. 63. Senior Caleb Frost ran 54.09 to finish 3rd in the 400m dash. Ogbourne (4th ), K. Dunn (5th ), and J. Dunn (6th ) ran solid races in the 100 meter dash. Frost also finished 6th in the 200m dash (25.09) and senior Adrian Carmenate finished 7th in the 400 meter dash (57.13).
The hurdlers were led by Ogbourne's third place finish in the 110 meter high hurdles (16.96). Senior Cejay Whisler was 4th in the 400 meter hurdles in 62.75 while Roland was 6th in that event. The shuttle hurdle relay team of sophomore Austin Follis, Roland, freshman Ben Imhofff and freshman Carter Smalley finished 5th. Follis also finished 8th in the 110 meter high hurdles.
In the mid/distance events, the Cats were led by junior Brayden Kessler who finished 2 nd in the 3200 meter run. Sophomore Brady Birkenholtz finished 3rd and freshman Brody Roth 6th. Senior Ethan Schlichte ran 4:58.19 to finish 2nd in the 1600 followed by senior Brandon Kesner who was 5th (5:02.23) and freshman Chase Gach (7th in 5:05.46). B. Kessler also finished 7th in the 800 followed by sophomore Logan Howard who placed 8th . The 4x800 meter relay team of Schlichte, Gach, Whisler, and Kesner ran 9:07.45 to finish 3rd. The distance medley squad of freshman Tate Heidemann and sophomores McPhee, Wyatt Sobieszkoda, and Isaac Comito were the runners-up in 4:09.27. Rounding out the results was a 4th place finish in the 4x400 meter relay by Ryan Petersen, Comito, Keith Christenson and Birkenholtz.
