The No. 8 ranked Wildcats punched their ticket to the state cross country meet by finishing second at the Pella state qualifying meet with 73 points. No. 2 ranked Pella was the meet champion with 40 points, while No. 7 Mount Vernon/Lisbon was third with 81 points.
Brandon Kesner ran an awesome race to grab the runner-up spot with a lifetime PR of 16:44. Also making the automatic qualifying top-15 was Chase Gach in 15th place (17:20). Coming in strong for the 'Cats were Kaden Sadler in 17th place (17:20), Ethan Schlichte in 19th place (17:26), Lincoln Eighmy in 20th place (17:28), Brady Birkenholtz in 21st place (17:30) and Brayden Kessler in 22nd place (17:31).
The Cats will cap off their season at the state meet in Fort Dodge on Oct. 30th.
